Joan Tremelling Obituary, Death – Pistol Australia regrets to inform its members and the shooting community of the passing of Joan Tremelling, a distinguished Life Member since 1991. Joan’s legacy within Pistol Australia is profound, marked notably by her role as the Honorary Editor of the APSUA/PA Bulletin for an impressive span of 30 years, from 1964 to 1995.

Under Joan’s stewardship, the Bulletin flourished, evolving significantly in both scope and depth. Originally launched in 1959, it grew into a vital publication for the pistol shooting community, thanks to Joan’s dedication, editorial skill, and passion for the sport.

Joan was a resident of Mount Gambier throughout her life, where she shared her love of shooting with her husband, the late John Tremelling, an Olympian who competed in Free Pistol at the 1960 Rome Olympics. Both Joan and John were active members of the Mount Gambier Rifle and Pistol Club, contributing tirelessly to the local shooting scene.

Beyond her professional contributions, Joan was deeply devoted to her family. She and John raised three children—Brad, Jan, and Peter—and were blessed with seven grandchildren, who brought them immense joy and pride.

Joan Tremelling’s commitment to Pistol Australia and her significant impact on the sport of shooting will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing leaves a void in the community she served with distinction, but her legacy will endure through the Bulletin and the memories shared by her family, friends, and colleagues.

Our thoughts are with Joan’s family during this difficult time of mourning. Pistol Australia encourages its members to honor Joan’s memory by continuing to uphold the values of dedication, excellence, and camaraderie that she exemplified throughout her life.
