Dennis M. McLaughlin Obituary, Death – Dennis McLaughlin, a Cold War submarine veteran and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, under hospice care. He was 79 years old. Dennis was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, where he was the middle son among five siblings. His parents, Edward and Kathleen McLaughlin, along with his brothers Edward, William, Thomas, and Kevin, were central figures in his life. Growing up in Providence, Dennis was an active and spirited young man. He was deeply involved in his local community, particularly through sports.

He played basketball for Saint Michael’s parish, showing an early passion for teamwork and dedication. After graduating from Hope High School in 1963, Dennis’s life took him on a remarkable journey. He went on to serve as a submariner during the Cold War, a period marked by intense geopolitical tension and innovation. His service in the submarine fleet was a testament to his bravery and commitment to his country. These years at sea were characterized by long missions and the tight-knit camaraderie of his fellow servicemen.

But Dennis’s life was not solely defined by his military service. He returned to civilian life with the same dedication and enthusiasm that had marked his time in the Navy. Dennis became a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He raised a family with the same care and commitment he had shown throughout his life.
