Jerome Wasserman Obituary, Death – Jerome “Jerry” Wasserman passed away peacefully last night at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. A devoted husband, stepfather, and grandfather, Jerry’s warmth touched everyone who knew him. More than 30 years ago, Jerry married my mom, becoming a beloved part of our family and a wonderful grandfather to my children.

His gentle guidance and nurturing spirit were ever-present, and his influence on our lives is immeasurable. Jerry’s passion for the game of Bridge is a fond memory for us all. He not only taught my child, Narasimha Selvester, how to play but also shared this passion through special experiences like a memorable Bridge cruise during Narasimha’s teenage years. It was in these moments that Jerry’s love for life and learning shone brightest.

A lover of music, Jerry’s voice could often be heard singing joyfully, accompanied by his signature corny jokes that never failed to bring a smile. His ability to find humor in everyday life was one of his greatest gifts to us all. Although Jerry’s health began to decline about six weeks ago, he lived a long, fulfilling life, surrounded by family and friends who adored him. The photo from 2019, capturing his big smile, reminds us of the joy he brought into our lives.

Jerry’s passing in Florida marks the end of an era, but his journey continues as we gather to honor him at his funeral and burial in Brooklyn this Sunday. To ensure we arrive on time, Sita Selvester and I are driving to my aunt’s house in Connecticut tomorrow. This year has been incredibly challenging, with Jerry’s passing coming just five months after my father’s death. Yet, even in sorrow, we find comfort in the love and laughter Jerry shared with us all.

Jerry Wasserman’s life was a testament to joy, kindness, and the power of family. His memory will forever be a blessing to those who knew and loved him.
