Before Zharia Wilcox-Ellis, 24, was shot and killed on Friday night, Melanie Williams, 30, was accused on Monday of abusing her outside a posh home. Williams was placed under arrest on one count of assault and battery on a household or family member during a Waltham District Court hearing.

This is while he awaits a dangerousness hearing that is scheduled for later this month. On August 2, at around 11:30 p.m., Waltham Police were called to a parking lot next to The Wright, a posh home located at 341 Second Avenue. Prosecutor Carrie Spiros stated Melanie Williams resides on the fifth floor in court on Monday.

She was seen on surveillance footage leaving through a side entrance and hitting Wilcox-Ellis during a brawl with other individuals. The prosecutor stated that after the woman slit her forehead, Wilcox-Ellis was found shot to death in the head while strolling with the gang in a nearby parking lot.

Wilcox-Ellis’ sister stated outside the courthouse that the two had been dating for five to six months. Williams “has a history of putting her hands on people,” according to Shyrie Wilcox. Melanie Williams is only accused of the alleged attack involving domestic violence.

The Middlesex District Attorney is still looking into what happened during the tragic shooting. Williams is being detained until August 13 for a 58A hearing. A warrant from Clinton District Court is also outstanding for her. It is recommended that anyone with information from Friday night contact Waltham Police Detectives.
