Chris Esparza Obituary, Death – Chris Esparza founder and owner of Giant Creative Services has sadly passed away as stated in several social media posts one of which wrote thus “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye To Giant Creative Services’ founder and owner, Chris Esparza who passed away yesterday. Chris leaves an indelible mark on San Jose’s arts and cultural scene and the community as a whole. His legacy will live on in the projects, businesses, events, and people he touched, but he will be deeply missed.”

Social Media Tributes

Following the demise of Chris Esparza, many family members, friends, distant families, and old-time colleagues have taken to their social media handles to express their shock and sadness and to sympathize with the family of the deceased.

A longtime friend wrote ” Like many of us, I’ve spent today reading a lot, talking a lot, and thinking a lot about Chris Esparza, and what his loss means to the city of San Jose, a place we have both loved through good times and bad. Ultimately, I decided that wasn’t right. What’s important isn’t his loss but what his presence meant to San Jose for so many years.

And we still see the impact his life had all around us in the places and events we love — even the ones that are only great memories like Blackbird Tavern, where I snapped this photo a few years ago. I think it captures Chris’ absolute joy at bringing something new to downtown San Jose. My heart goes out to Pilar and his entire family. Thank you for sharing Chris with me and an entire city.
Another Wrote ” I was 22 when I met Chris Esparza. It was my first day at Willow St. and he was the manager. I clocked out for my day shift and met him in the office, where he was coming on for the night shift. We introduced ourselves, then ended up talking for two hours straight. Instant family.
Years later we’d piece together that he’d been the giant bouncer who rescued me from a mosh pit at the Ramones concert at One Step Beyond when I was 14. There were so many serendipitous things like that — that happened when you were in Chris’s orbit. He made things happen. He was fearless. He radiated energy, and if you were lucky enough to be loved by him you understood what it meant to have someone love you fiercely and be a friend to you.
He had the darkest sense of humor – and my heart aches knowing I’ll never see that gleam in his eye as he bests me in a back-and-forth of disparaging jokes ever again. I loved him so much. If I close my eyes I can see us all hanging out in Chris, Diana and Andrew’s downtown apartment, having the absolute best 20’s anyone could have thanks predominantly to Chris’s remarkable ability to bring people together. I’ll never forget the family ‘Big Poppa’ built for all of us.”
