Brent Odom Death, Obituary – The community of Sumrall and beyond gathers to honor the life and legacy of Brent Odom, whose untimely passing on August 3, 2024, has left a profound impact on all who knew him. A service celebrating Brent’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Richton, with interment following at Edwards Cemetery.

Born and raised in the heart of Mississippi, Brent Odom was a pillar of his community, known for his dedication both at work and in his personal life. At just 33 years old, Brent had already made a significant mark as a project manager for Red Roofing in Hattiesburg. His professionalism and commitment to his work were matched only by his passion for the things he loved most outside of the office.

Brent’s love for his family was unparalleled. He is remembered fondly as a devoted husband to Chandler Odom and a proud father to his four children—John Avery, Karter, Wells, and Waverly. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Brent’s enthusiasm for life extended to his hobbies; he was an avid disc golf player, a regular at the river, and a dedicated fan of the Atlanta Braves. Yet, it was his deep affection for his family that defined him most.

In addition to his wife and children, Brent is survived by his parents, Eric Odom of Richton and Rena Tidwell of Petal, along with his siblings, Laekyn Odom and Randall (Carlie) Duhon. His grandparents—Jessie (Delores) Odom, Gloria Tidwell, and Jimmy (Roberta) Tidwell—along with numerous other family members and friends, will deeply miss him.

Brent’s life, though cut tragically short, was rich in love and purpose. He was preceded in death by his great-great-grandparents, Ellis and Gladys Odom, and Houston L. Ledbetter and Kate Ledbetter, whose memory lives on in the legacy he has left behind.

The visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jones and Son Funeral Home, where friends and family can come together to share their memories and support one another during this difficult time. The pallbearers, Shaffer Carter, Drew Carruth, William Winborn, Derek Sizemore, Chase Robinson, and Price Robinson, will honor Brent’s memory by serving in this solemn role, while Randall Duhon and Pacen Odom will be remembered as honorary pallbearers.

As the community prepares to say goodbye to a beloved friend, colleague, and family man, we are reminded of the impact one person can have on so many lives. Brent Odom will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to his loved ones, and the joy he brought to everyone he met.
