Sidney Powell Obituary, Death – Two individuals who were slain in overnight shootings in the French Quarter and the Lower Ninth Ward this past weekend were identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on Tuesday morning. The shootings took place during the course of the weekend.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the body of Sidney Powell, who was 41 years old, was discovered inside a vehicle on Friday evening at 9:51 p.m. on the 2200 block of Choctaw Street. According to the New Orleans Police Department, Andre K. Preston, who is 26 years old, was shot on Saturday at 3:55 a.m. near the intersection of Bourbon and St. Louis streets.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead after being brought there. In an interview with The Times-Picayune, the grandmother of Desean Leggett, the man who was killed by gunfire in front of a gas station on Chef Menteur Highway on Sunday afternoon, revealed that her grandson was the victim.
Leggett, who was 23 years old at the time of his death, was identified as the victim by the coroner. At one thirty-three minutes past the hour, the police responded to a complaint in the 10800 block of Chef Menteur Highway. When they arrived, they discovered Leggett suffering from a single gunshot wound. There, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
