James Boxwell  Obituary, Death – On the 10th of August, 2024, James Lynn Boxwell, who was 85 years old, passed away in a calm and serene manner at home, surrounded by his wife and three daughters. The services are still up for discussion. Mary Josephine and Ivan Duane Boxwell welcomed their son Jim into the world on March 2, 1939, in the city of Amarillo. Jim spent his childhood in Dumas, Texas, and received his high school diploma from Dumas High School.

After completing his studies at SMU and the University of Minnesota, he received a degree in Mortuary Science from the latter institution. Ginny Leduc Lenmark was the person he met while he was attending the University of Minnesota. Their wedding took place on February 8, 1964, in the city of Minneapolis. Following their return to Amarillo, he started his professional life with Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, where he remained employed for more than sixty years.

Jim, who was a dedicated member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, carried out his duties as an usher, a member of the Vestry, and a Senior Warden with exceptional dedication. Our family would like to take this opportunity to convey our deepest gratitude to the caregivers at Ruby Slippers and BSA Hospice for the extraordinary love and compassion that they showed to Jim.

Both of Jim’s parents, Jo and Ivan Boxwell, as well as his son-in-law, Dr. Scott Sawyer, DDS, passed away before him.
Becky McIlraith and her husband Jay, Barrie Tapp and her husband Randy, and Katy Terry and her husband Mike are his three daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Ginny, as well as his three daughters. His grandkids, Hannah Tapp Derryberry and her husband Trey, Thomas McIlraith, Marnie McIlraith, James Tapp and his wife Sydney, Max Sawyer, and Hudson Terry, as well as his three great-granddaughters, Avonlea Derryberry, Adalynn Rose Derryberry, and Sadie Jo Tapp, are also among those who are able to carry on his legacy.

The following individuals are also among his survivors: his brother Mike Boxwell and his wife Vicky; his nephews Bart Boxwell and his wife Christy; Brad Boxwell and his wife Jami; his niece Beth Throckmorton and her husband Jimmy; and thirteen great-nieces and nephews, as well as one great-great-nephew.
