Karlan Denio Death, Obituary – In a harrowing Thanksgiving incident, Karlan Denio, 62, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, has been accused of brutally murdering, dismembering, and disemboweling his wife, Connie Denio, just hours before their out-of-town relatives were scheduled to arrive for the holiday celebration. The gruesome discovery was made on the afternoon of Thursday, November 28, 2024, when relatives, unable to reach the couple by phone or get a response at the door, took the drastic step of removing the hinges from an entrance to gain access to the Denio home.
The Albuquerque Journal reported that upon entering, they were met with a horrific scene. Connie Denio was found dismembered and disemboweled on the bedroom floor, while Karlan Denio was found lying in bed with visible injuries. Connie, 60, had meticulously planned the Thanksgiving gathering and had communicated the arrangements to her family through a group chat the evening before.
The family had anticipated arriving around 1 p.m. to join the couple for the holiday. However, when they arrived, the house was unresponsive, prompting their urgent decision to force entry. According to police, Karlan Denio was found with cuts on his leg and neck and was taken into custody. His injuries were described as self-inflicted. The darkened state of the home and the chilling sight of Karlan lying on the bed prompted his sister to immediately call the police again after initially backing out of the residence in shock.
Neighbors of the Denios, including Rick Cordova, who has lived next to the couple for 20 years, were stunned by the events. Cordova described the Denios as “nice folks” and expressed disbelief that such a violent crime could occur within their community. Karlan Denio has been charged with murder in connection to his wife’s death. He is currently hospitalized, recovering from lacerations to his arm and neck.
The case has sent shockwaves through Albuquerque, leaving the community grappling with the tragic and violent turn of events that unfolded on what should have been a day of family and gratitude.
