Norma Howard Obituary, Death – Norma Howard passed away in her sleep last night after a period of ill health and several falls that left her bruised and weakened. Despite these challenges, she remained in touch with many of her friends, demonstrating her enduring spirit and love for those around her. Her passing leaves a deep void in the lives of all who knew her, and we will all miss her dearly.
Norma dedicated many years of her life to serving as the Branch Welfare Officer until her retirement in 2022 at the remarkable age of 90. Her commitment to the community extended beyond this role, as she also served as Chairman (Noble Grand) of the Hand in Hand, often representing the branch at District and Regional functions. Her presence at social and fundraising events, as well as church and carol services, was a testament to her dedication and love for the community.
Known for her generosity and compassion, Norma loved visiting members who were infirm, housebound, or unwell. She brought joy and comfort through thoughtful gifts, like a bottle of OBJ (Oh Be Joyful!) or a beautiful orchid. Even after stepping down from her official duties, she continued to maintain these cherished relationships, frequently calling those who had become her friends.
Our deepest sympathy goes to her family and many friends during this sad time. Norma’s life was a shining example of the Oddfellows’ motto: Friendship, Love, and Truth. Her unwavering commitment to caring for others and her infectious warmth touched countless lives and created a legacy that will not be forgotten.
As we remember and celebrate Norma’s long life, let us honor her memory by continuing her work of spreading kindness and compassion. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
