Woodie Mitchel Dixon Death, Obituary –Woodie Mitchel Dixon, age 72, passed away on August 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, service, and cherished memories. His life was marked by a profound love for his family, a passion for community service, and a dedication to his faith. Woodie was well-known for his enjoyment of barbecuing and playing softball. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandsons.

Whether it was picking weeds or engaging in any activity they desired, Woodie found immense satisfaction in these moments. His dedication to his grandsons was a testament to his loving nature and commitment to family. In 1971, Woodie met his future wife, Margaret, at horse shows where they competed in timed events, halter, and roping categories. Their partnership, both in life and in competition, was a source of pride and joy for them both.

Professionally, Woodie dedicated 52 years of his life to working as an inside machinist at Southern Fastener and Parkway Machine and Metal Works. His work ethic and dedication were evident in his long tenure and the respect he earned from his colleagues. Woodie’s spiritual journey was equally notable. He taught Sunday school at Refuge Methodist Church and First Church of Lucedale for over 50 years.

His deep knowledge of scripture and his humble, kind demeanor made him a beloved figure in his church community. His service and humility were cornerstones of his character, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred “Pete” and Thellis Lewis Dixon. Woodie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Dixon; children, Daniel (Erin) Dixon and Carmen (Mike) Johnson; grandchildren, Ladner Davis (Mallory Rich),

Taite Davis, Finn Dixon, and Jonah Dixon; siblings, Al (Barbara) Dixon and Deborah Howell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at First Church of Lucedale from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Bro. David Newton, Bro. Brian Scott, and Bro. Dean Box. A private burial will follow at Refuge Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Derrick Scott, Hank Cochran, Ronnie Miller, Garth Parnell, Larry McDonald, and Phillip Cochran. Honorary Pallbearers are Paul Stanley, Tom Parker, George McIntosh, Eric Hill, Jimmy Davis, and Frank Cochran. Woodie Mitchel Dixon’s life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to family, faith, and community. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
