Jessica Gutierrez Obituary, Death – After a valiant fight with cancer, Jessica Gutierrez, 34, of Kenosha and formerly of Waukegan, passed away on August 5, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. Fulgencio and Silvia Figueroa were Jessica’s parents. She was reared in Waukegan and earned her high school diploma there in 2008. She pursued further education at Northeastern University and graduated from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology with an advanced degree as an Educational Specialist (EDS).

Jessica discovered that she was meant to be a school psychologist. In 2015, she started working for the Racine Unified District after starting her career with the Waukegan School District. Jessica was a fervent supporter of the voiceless, particularly of bilingual and disabled children. She frequently put the needs of her pupils ahead of her own.

Jessica had a passion for movies and was well-known for her ability to recite lines from old movies and stay up to date on new ones. She was genuinely passionate about dancing and singing. When she and her husband, Hector, got their puppy, Xena, it was a turning point in their lives.

Jessica was encouraged to enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking and exploring with the newest equipment, by her newfound friendship. Their walk to the top of Wisconsin’s Devil’s Lake is one of her favorite memories. Jessica instantly assumed the position of a supermom after giving birth to her son Armando at 29 weeks. For two months, Jessica went to the hospital every day while Armando was in the NICU.

Her commitment made sure that when Armando got home, he got the best care imaginable. Jessica battled bravely against cancer shortly after receiving her diagnosis, never losing her good humor or optimistic approach. Everyone who knew Jessica will never forget her enduring energy and golden heart. Her family and friends will truly miss her and feel a great emptiness in their hearts.

Jessica’s siblings Yaneth (Roberto) and Erika (Manny), her brother Santiago, her parents Fulgencio and Silvia, her son Armando, her husband Hector, her nieces and nephews Tito, Ivan, Jaylene & Enzo, and Zeke, as well as her brother-in-law Epi and sister-in-law Daisy, survive her.

On Saturday, August 10, at 10:00 AM, there will be a funeral mass at Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 450 Keller Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085. On Friday, August 9, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, there will be a visitation at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, located at 101 Park Pl., Libertyville, IL 60048. After Mass, there will be an Ascension Cemetery interment.
