Brad Mehrkens Obituary, Death – Brad A. Mehrkens, age 59, of Pontiac, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, in Sugar Grove, IL. On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 4 to 8 PM, friends and family of the deceased will be received at the Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac, IL. Everyone is invited to attend a public, graveside service on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 11 a.m. at South Side Cemetery in Pontiac, with Pastor Jason Woolever officiating.
Everyone is welcome to gather at Bob and Ringo’s Tavern after the service for refreshments and reminiscences. Joseph and Peggy (Sutter) Mehrkens welcomed their son Brad into the world in Fairbury, Illinois on February 19, 1965. In Pontiac, Illinois, Peggy survives. In Pontiac, Illinois, on August 21, 1993, he wed Kara (Wolf) Mehrkens.
She survives in Pontiac, IL. Lauren Mehrkens of Princeton, IL, Andrea Mehrkens of Chicago, IL, and Samantha Mehrkens of Pontiac, IL are his cherished daughters; Mark (Kim) Mehrkens of Pontiac, IL, and Nicole (Matt) Blaetz of Pontiac, IL, are his siblings; and Robert (Heather) Wolf of Gardner, IL, and Richard (Claudia) Wolf of Morris, IL, are his brothers-in-law. Additionally, he leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and aunts.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Mehrkens. After finishing high school in 1983 at Pontiac Township, Brad enrolled at Illinois Central College. For more than four decades, he was an employee at Donnell’s Printing and Office Products, ran Bob & Ringo’s Tavern, and was an employee of the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
Elk of the Year for Illinois and Exalted Ruler of the Pontiac Elks—that was him. Brad enjoyed being with friends and family, golfing, and watching sports. The Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears were two of his favorite teams. He enjoyed going to the Pontiac Holiday Tournament every year as well as traveling to golf tournaments including the Masters.
At Bob & Ringo’s, he enjoyed spending time chatting with friends. Above all, Brad loved his family. He especially loved spending time with his wife and three daughters whom he adored and loved with his whole heart. He was the best husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend that you could have ever asked for. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
