Birmingham Shooting, Death – There was a homicide that took place at the Collegeville Housing Community on Saturday just before midnight, and the Birmingham Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into there. In response to a report of two people being shot in the 3000 Block of 30th Avenue North, police from the North Precinct were sent to the scene.
Upon arrival at the site, law enforcement officers entered an apartment where they discovered a man and a woman who were both suffering from gunshot wounds. It wasn’t long after that that Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived and confirmed that the victim had passed away.
A man named Brandon Lee, who was 35 years old, has been identified as the victim. The woman was transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital with injuries that were considered to be life-threatening. She has not been updated on her condition at this time.
According to the first findings of the inquiry, the shooting occurred as a result of a disagreement between the individual who was shot and another individual who was outside the apartment premises. It is believed by the police that the man fired shots in the direction of the flat, hitting both of the victims.
It is also believed by the police that at least one of the victims returned fire, causing the suspect to be hit. It was approximately 1:40 in the am when the suspect arrived to UAB, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officials from the North Precinct seized him and informed him that he will continue to be held in jail while he receives medical treatment. According to the Boston Police Department, he is currently facing pending charges on the possibility of capital murder and attempted murder.
