Arn Rubinoff Death, Obituary – The Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business is deeply mourning the loss of Arn Rubinoff, a distinguished principal lecturer in Law and Ethics who passed away on August 12, 2024. His passing marks the end of an era of extraordinary service and dedication to the College and the broader community. Arn Rubinoff’s journey with Georgia Tech began in 2001, when he was recruited by the College of Management to impart his expertise in technology and business law.

Over the next twenty-three years, he became a linchpin in the Scheller College of Business, leaving an indelible mark through his commitment to teaching and mentoring. As a principal lecturer, Arn’s influence extended far beyond the confines of the classroom. His courses—spanning Business Law, Business Regulations, International Business, and Legal and Ethical Considerations in Business—were known for their depth and practical relevance.

His teaching philosophy was anchored in delivering real-world knowledge that prepared students for the complexities of the business world. This approach earned him widespread acclaim and respect from students and colleagues alike. Arn’s dedication did not go unnoticed. He received numerous accolades throughout his tenure, including the Professor of the Year award in 2012, the Lecturer of the Year award in 2013 and 2019, and the Class of 1940 Course Survey Effectiveness Award in 2018.

The Dean George C. Griffin Georgia Tech Faculty of the Year Award for the 2015-2016 academic year further underscored his exceptional contributions to the College. In addition to his teaching prowess, Arn’s service extended to various administrative and advisory roles within Georgia Tech. He served on the Faculty Senate and was twice elected to the Faculty Executive Board, including a term as chair during a pivotal transition period. His extensive legal expertise, coupled with his work on capital formation and venture capital, established him as a respected figure in both the legal and business communities. Arn’s contributions extended to writing numerous articles on tax and international law and participating in economic development missions abroad with the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism.

Arn’s impact reached well beyond the Georgia Tech campus. In Atlanta, he was actively involved in various community and professional organizations, including the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce’s Biotech and Telecommunications Task Forces and the Atlanta Council for International Visitors. His leadership roles as President of the International Transactions Section of the Atlanta Bar Association and Chairman of the Board for the Georgia Foreign Trade Zone showcased his dedication to fostering international business relations. Additionally, his volunteer work with the High Museum of Art’s Education Department reflected his commitment to cultural and educational enrichment.
