On August 13, 2024, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, KS, Andrew Miller Saunders, 61, of Parkville, MO, quietly passed away. In the nation’s capital, he came into this world on April 3, 1963, to parents Thomas A. and Eula “Bea” (Miller) Saunders. Their deaths came before his.

Andy went to Park Hill High School and then went on to get a degree in economics from Columbia University. His lengthy and fruitful career in the financial services industry was fueled by his brilliant mind, tremendous work ethic, and genuine love for people.

For almost 35 years, Andy advised clients on their financial investments at prestigious organizations including Morgan Stanley and Raymond James Financial, where he held the position of senior vice president. He placed a premium on the bonds he developed with his clients, the employees he guided, and the friends he met along the way. He served on the board of directors for the Third and Long Foundation for many years and was extremely giving with his resources.

Andy, who was incredibly selfless and kind, prioritized the needs of his loved ones above all else. His children looked up to him, and he was the best friend his wife had. His memory will be of a man who was full of life, charming, intelligent, and quick on his feet. Of Andy’s many distinguishing characteristics was his hilarious sense of humor.

His humorous one-liners could bring a smile to anyone’s face. No matter where Andy traveled, he always managed to make friends at first sight. We shall miss him terribly. In Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, Andy wed Elizabeth “Beth” Saunders, who would go on to be his wife of twenty-five years, on June 5, 1999.

Along with Beth, they leave behind five children: Lindsay Dee Slagle of Leawood, KS; Andrew Miller Saunders, Jr. of Kansas City, MO; Cooper John Saunders and wife, Bailey, of Riverside, MO; Anne Murrow Saunders of Parkville, MO; and Elle Leigh Saunders of Parkville, MO. Also left behind are three siblings: Thomas Saunders and wife, Susan, of Kansas City, MO; Daniel Saunders and wife, Karen, of Golden, CO; and Melinda Waide and husband, Ron, of Knightdale, NC. His two cherished French bulldogs, Pepper and Stella, were also survivors.
